Statement: Six Months Since October 7th Attacks

Six months ago today, a catastrophic attack was launched against Israel’s southern communities. 1200 people were brutally killed by the Hamas-led militants who slaughtered Jewish, Arab, and Bedouin citizens alike. Kidnapping over 250, committing a wave of sexual violence and unforeseen war crimes.

Since then, the Israeli government, led by Netanyahu and his extremist partners, have prosecuted a war without clear objectives. Destroying Gaza and Israel’s global standing. Over 30,000 Gazans have now been killed, the hostages are still being held, and a “total victory” is no closer nor more realistic than at the war’s start.

Now, the streets of Israel are alive with a public demanding leadership to save the hostages, and an end to government ineptitude. The revived debate over conscription as a shared civic responsibility reminds us that the crises gripping the State of Israel are symptoms of a government without leadership. Since Netanyahu first came to power, he has governed to calcifying Israeli politics and society.

No decisions, no leadership, no solutions, only division.

If the hostages are to be saved, if civilians lives are to be saved, if the Jewish hope for a secure home in Israel is to be saved, then Israel needs real leadership.

Zealotry, corruption, and divisive leaders have brought down Jewish sovereignty before, we cannot allow it again.
